New in store: Timberland

We are glad to finally have Timberland join our stable of casual footwear. Starting with a tight selection for the gentlemen, these new additions from the Earthkeepers series didn't disappoint us: Well-made, sharp looking, and hardy footwear priced well within reason.

The Earthkeepers range really hits home for us: A collection created in 2008, the company commits itself to actively limit the amount of resources used to make every pair of EK.

Materials picked are renewable, organic or recyclable (most of which can be used at the end of their lifecycle). But don't let us or fancy marketing fool you - get a definition here and hear what Timberland has to say below. See if any of what we're saying makes sense.

More Timberland: Desert Boots, Deck Chukka, Deck Ox

While it's always going to be first and foremost about the look, we like that the Earthkeepers come with interesting inspirations and design features.

(1) The Suede Desert Boots seen above were inspired by the suede footwear worn by off-duty British soldiers stationed in Cairo during World War II.







(2) Bionic Canvas, a trademarked canvas of Timberland, is 30% stronger then regular canvas.

(3) Anti-Fatigue footbed, a removable footbed that gives you all-day comfort and support.

(4) The Yelehaiti label reflects the creative collaboration between musician Wyclef Jean's charitable organisation Yele Haiti Foundation and Timberland.

Bag n Noun: New arrivals

1) Restock of the popular Gold Toolbag: Now with additional two new colours in Chocolate and Navy (picture 2 & 3). Made with quality canvas, the Toolbags can hold their shape very well, even when empty. We like the 2 side-pockets that are expandable on the outside, and amazingly invisible when buttoned down. Our waterbottles and umbrellas fit just nice in the pockets. Very thoughtful.

2) Made with the same material, is the newly introduced Canvas Pochette: Featured in picture 1, the Pouchette is smaller and more portable then your average briefcase. These smart-looking carriers come with high quality leather straps that are adjustable. Sling them across your shoulder for the best look.

3) Also new is the very roomy Nylon Toto bag: A hardy and waterproof bag, this is a downpour-friendly carrier that can really protect your documents when that crazy 1-min shower hits. Plus, in case it's relevant to you, we are told these are the perfect sized bags for snorkeling trips!

A special edition Chuck Taylor made with Waxed Canvas. We especially enjoy the split-leather insole detail (see picture one). This marks the first of the CONVERSE All Star Premium Spring 2011 collection - and a fantastic way to start a stylish new year.
