BAGGU Ladies : Mix & match

Not only are our BAGGUs super useful (packed lunches for the Baby BAGGU, laptops and files for the BAGGU M), they are just plain fun. And because there are just too many colours and prints to pick from, we've turned it into a daily habit to start our mornings pairing a BAGGU with our outfit for the day. Maybe a Daypack in Papaya to perk up a blue Monday, or pairing the cutest Elephant print with a cotton sundress to the beach.

And the same shopping bags get recycled around the family - our Mums & Grandmas absolutely love them (because there's really no reason not to) and we re-use them, again & again.

BAGGU Guys : A daily thing

From the Re-usable Shopping Bags to the Zip Pouches, to the Daypacks, we all use our BAGGUs in our own different ways. But the guys in our team appreciate them most for their durability, functionality and the fact that when you're done, they fit right back into your pocket.

BAGGUs are constructed out of 100% Ripstop Nylon and are totally Machine Washable. Holds up to 23KG.

BAGGU Re-usables: Pick your print

We don't normally associate the word Re-use with fun or design, but we think BAGGU has changed this association for us entirely!

Just in store, we've got an experimental, Bauhaus-inspired collection by Caitlin Mociun, a Brooklyn-based apparel & jewellery artist. These are available in 4 different shopping bags, which we love using as an everyday tote. The same prints are also available in zipper pouches -- SO great for organising, guys and girls alike.

If you're looking for something a little more unexpected, and with a little pinch of fun, you will love the animals (Foxes, Alpacas, Elephants) and quirky geometric prints BAGGU has come up with this Fall.

For Mums, Brothers, Students, Professionals and the Young at Heart.

BAGGU: It's time to really say no to plastic bags.

Some countries or cities ban it, while places like Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Spain choose to tax it. We're talking plastic bags, and we all kind of know they are harmful to our environment, but to what extent? Here's some of what we found out:

When we're done with our plastic bags, like everything else we don't need, we dispose them. Plastics that are disposed of properly are either incinerated or go to landfills with the rest of our trash.

In the 60s, Singapore depended on a number of landfills around the island to handle soild waste. By the late 70s, there wasn't enough space on our island and other methods were needed. Incineration, which converts the burning of waste to energy, was found to be most cost effective. Today, there are four waste disposal plants in Singapore, located at Tuas, Senoko, Tuas South and an offshore venue called Semakau Landfill.

Plastic bags are also littered. They're in drains, choking water flow in cities and causing floods in places like Bangladesh; They are drifting in seas, literally strangling turtles, or wrongly seen as food, poisoning dolphins and all other forms of sea life (which if you think about it, the fish that just nibbled on a plastic bag might eventually end up in our stomachs).

WHY WE LOVE OUR BAGGUs.

BAGGU Re-usables mimic the shape of a regular plastic bag. They perform the same duties, but last longer, hold heavier, and definitely look so much better. They are lead-free too.

We have been using BAGGU re-usables for the longest time (yes the whole rockstar team!) and it's been a great journey. Some of us use it when we exercise -- toiletries for the yoga/gym ladies, swimming gear for the guys -- while almost all of us use them for groceries, shopping and even when we get food from the neighbourhood market.

To get started: (1) Bring home one or two in your favourite colour or print. (2) Before you step out of the house, check your bag for your BAGGUs. (3) Use it, and then use it again and again! (4) There is nothing cooler then someone who is willing to make an effort to do the right thing, so step 4, hold your head high.

With all the new prints & colours we've stocked up in store, this is really the best time to give re-using a real shot. We hope to see you at rockstar very soon.

Mimi Pong: You & me against the world

If you recognise these from our store, you will really like Mimi Pong's latest version. Keeping up with her trademark spontaneity, this time the artist brought us these 100% hand sewn (unbelievably well-made) geometric pouches and we're big fans already. They come in a good size -- perfect for stashing bits and bobs -- and are so oddly shaped we know they'll give us a good laugh every time we fish one out of our bags.

For other Mimi Pong goods not seen at Rockstar, visit the artist's online shop here, and the blog here.
